The Electrical Inspectors’ Association of British Columbia was formed in 1947. At that time it was the only electrical inspector’s association in Canada, and had an initial membership of 46 inspectors. It quickly expanded to include associate members from other divisions of the electrical industry. The purpose was to attempt to achieve uniform interpretation of the Canadian Electrical Code.
Today, we have grown to more than 223 inspectors, associate, contractor and life members. We are a BC registered association under the “Society Act” with our own constitution, bylaws and code of ethics.
Our Association remains an independent organization affiliated with the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. We continue to be a strong voice espousing electrical safety, and a forum for interpretation of the Canadian Electrical Code. We are the voice of the Electrical Inspector whose role is to ensure public safety and electrically safe installations. Our motto is simple: “LET THE CODE DECIDE”.
